The Overview
Every time we turn on our TV we realize that the bad guy is learning new ways to send their message. This tells us that we need to continually review our security measures, ensuring that we looking at every angle of possible attack, every possible vulnerability. Vulnerabilities are changing, the ALE does change requiring you to have an accurate list of your current losses (incidents). Keep in mind the possibility of incidents that have not yet happened may happen and determine the best way to mitigate or eliminate all possibilities from taking place.
It is the person that says “that would never happen here", that will be surprised. Assessments that work off of a list of questions that have been around for the last 20 years leave room for error. I am not knocking the basic principles, yes the same vulnerabilities exist, but there are new ones that need to be included.
The Series
The GSS webinar series will start with the risk assessment, the series will move into specific areas of security management that deal with day to day management of the assets of a company, officers, incidents, keys, lost and found, trouble calls, contractors, visitors and bad people. Keep in mind we will minimize the number of separately running software applications, a unified system is much more effective.
Assets include items the company owns, items the company protects, your laptop, and the information on your laptop, your cell phone, your credit cards and YOU. Who is accountable when they are to be collected, what losses are experienced when they are not tracked?
Physical key management if not managed properly can expose large vulnerabilities in your organization, the losses can add up quickly!
The tracking of officers activities, those who are managing the protection detail, who find deficiencies, who are walking the grounds have duties beyond the point to point, are your officers trained to maximize there tour times. Lets rephrase that; does your security plan include educating and evaluating your officers activities? The data collect of your officers time spent, can be utilized to manage performance along with justifying your budget?
Each area covered in our webinars will involve security officers, security supervisors, directors, and the employees who assist in a strong security plan.
The Effect
The security department is a pivotal part of the company, it can be run so it does its job, or it can be run to maximize efficiency, saving the company money, assist in lean security, and work with other departments to save money across the board.
GSS’s goal is to show you our partners how to determine vulnerabilities, increase security efficiency, save time and money, show justification and keep in compliance.
